Activated carbon was first known to treat water 2000 years ago. However, it was first produced commercially at the beginning of the 20th century and was only available in powder form. Activated carbon can be produced from a variety of carbonaceous raw material, the primary ones being coal, coconut shells, wood and lignite. Most of our customers are using carbon filtration for pretreatment to remove chlorine, and organics, this may include Reverse Osmosis Systems, Deionization systems, etc. Water Specialties can provide customers with Portable Exchange Carbon, Automatic Systems, and Bulk Media.
